January 3rd, 2011, my husband, Thom Mathes was diagnosed with 3 brain tumors. As you can imagine, this will change our lives forever. Nothing can prepare you for such a life changing event, and we thank everyone for their continued prayers and support. Moved by Thom’s courage, I decided to increase brain tumor awareness and fundraise for the American Brain Tumor Association (ABTA).
Since his initial diagnosis, Thom has had surgery, intense radiation and chemo therapy treatments, and most recently infusion every other week for the past year. He continues to have MRI’s and regular visits with his team of doctors at the University of Michigan. We are happy to report that Thom’s positive spirit and his sense of humor have carried him through all of this and he is an inspiration to all of us! We are hopeful for our future and are very thankful to God that we have made it through so many hurdles! We continue to pray for our miracle in the making. According to the ABTA, 500 people a day are newly diagnosed with brain tumors.
Because of our countless volunteers, participants, friends, family, and friends of friends, all working together for 1 common goal, we are thrilled that in 2011 we raised $6,100.00 and 2012 we raised $7,220.00 totaling $13,320.00, all of which was sent directly to the ABTA for brain tumor research. Please help us in our continued fight against brain tumors and support our 3rd Annual Event by volunteering, participating or making a donation payable directly to the American Brain Tumor Association. Their website is: www.abta.org.
